This note from Chris White's dad-------
Chris had a nice little surprise. At Lakeland at Spring Training and after a good day on the field highlighted by a ground rule double, Chris received a call last night with an invite to join the big league boys today when they traveled to Port Saint Lucie to play the Mets. The day started with breakfast in “the clubhouse”, a two hour ride on the “nice bus”, and the big league treatment at Port Saint Lucie called “Thomas J. White Stadium”. Chris did get into the game in the bottom of the 9th to make the first put out, catching a fly ball to center right. We were able to watch it on MLB.TV. Disappointing, Ryan Church was not in the Mets lineup today.
When I asked Chris what it was like, I received an endless stream of expressions like awesome, incredible, and sweet. We’ll have to wait till the buzz wears off to hear more. He was honored to be asked.
