Swimming, Baseball, Softball, Tennis

Swimming
The Braves hosted Nipomo at the COLAC on Tuesday. It was a somewhat unusual situation as most of the Titan boys swam JV and the Lompoc guys swam varsity. Both levels were full on the girls side. The Complete Results will be posted tomorrow.

Baseball
Carpenteria [4-3] 8, Cabrillo [5-4] 7
The Warriors won the home run derby. They pushed 1 run across in the lower half of the 3rd, then exploded for 7 more in the 4th. Nathan Saito drilled a grand slam over the fence, and the Kyle Geary followed with a solo shot. 8-0, Game Over right ? Not so fast, my friend ! In the top of the 5th, the Conqs scored seven themselves as Zach Pecyna hit a 3-run homer.

For the game, Carp had 13 runners reach safely, including a Sanchez double. Cabrillo received doubles from Greathead and Mertz. Aaron Naputi (2-1) took the loss, and Geary (2-1) collected the win.

LPL Week #1

Santa Ynez [8-1, 1-0] 5, Lompoc [7-2, 0-1] 1

The offense only mustered three hits off of Pirate ace Sean Rowan (4-0).
Cody Berryman (3-1) absorbed the loss.

St Joseph [5-1, 1-0] 9, Santa Maria [2-6, 0-1] 2
Jeff Smith (2-0) struck out 9 en route to a complete game 1-hitter. After the Saints took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, the Knights broke the game open by scoring 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The rally was fueled by J.P. Perez's 2 RBI single, and a Kevin Brown double that added another pair of runs. Brown was 1-2, 3 RBI, 1 Run Scored. Travis Biegel was 2-4 (both doubles), 2 RBI, and Jacob Cano went 2-4.

Morro Bay [4-3, 1-0] 7, Templeton [0-6, 0-1] 2
Jacob Peterson went the distance for the Pirates. He struck out 7, and gave up 4 hits, while he and Jordan Kuhn each hit two themselves. Tyler Lee was 3-4, with a homer in the 6th and 4 RBI.


Softball

LPL Week #1
Lompoc 7, Santa Ynez 0
Jeana Carrillo was her usual self (2 hit complete game), and the Brave bats were in attendance - triples from Betty Sullivan and Jheri Ann Lopez, and two doubles from Lauren Lopes. [SY does not have a JV team]

St Joseph [5-5, 1-0] 12, Santa Maria [] 0 (5 Innings)
Kailey Snyder lost her perfect game in the 4th, but struck out 7, as she and reliever Madi will combined for a 1-hitter. Four Knights had two hits - Snyder, Shayl Swaim (both doubles), Melissa Armero (1 doubles), and Mariah Cochiola. Alexa Sanders, Taylor Panaflor, and Ashley Ramirez each added a double to the Knight's total of six.

Morro Bay 10, Templeton 5
Kim Dauer was Kim Dauer-like - striking out 18 in a 4 hit complete game, although one of the hits was a Jane Hunt double. The Pirate's Clara Ramos went 3-4 (2 doubles, triple, 4 RBI), and four more Pirates had two hits.

Cabrillo [9-0] had the LPL Bye. The other teams were thankful.

Boys Tennis

Lompoc 13, Santa Maria 5
The Braves strenth in singles helped propel them to victory over a young (2 seniors) Saints squad. In singles, Kyle Thumm (Lompoc # 3) swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-1, with Robert Rodriguez (6-7 [2-7], 6-1, 6-0) and Juan Morales (1-6, 6-0, 7-6 [7-5]) each winning two. Elias Murillo picked up two points for Santa Maria, but freshman Jeff Laredo and Luciano Luu were shutout. Luu did push Morales hard in the tie-breaker after the match had already been decided.

Alex Jensen/ Joel Martin won two doubles sets (6-0, 6-1) before Josue Cardoza / Jose Montano forfeited in the third round. Cooper Barrick / Jesus Abrego won two (7-5, 6-0) but were challenged by soph duo Johnny Lazaro / Steve Rodriguez who went 1-2. Lompoc youngsters Oscar Rodriguez / Gabriel Henandez (1-6, 7-6 [7-4], 2-6) won a tie-breaker at #3, and Saints #3, Alfredo Rodriguez / Pablo Rojas, won two sets (6-2, 6-1).

Junior Varsity
SM 10, Lompoc 8
Lompoc was 6-3 in singles action.
Chris Aldama (6-2, 6-4, 6-0), on his birthday, and Alex Garcia (6-4, 7-6 [7-4], 7-5) both swept giving the Braves 6 points. Gustavo Landeros (1-6, 0-6, 6-7 [4-7]) almost swiped another one.

In doubles, however, they could only muster two points. Duos Joshua Zebley / Deion Campbell (4-6, 4-6, 6-0) and Esteban Pacheco / Sean Xiong (6-3, 3-6, 2-6) each took a set, but along with Aaron Francisco / Edgar Solis (1-6, 0-6, 2-6), they just couldn't get untracked.

Santa Ynez [5-3, 4-0 LPL] 16 , Cabrillo 2
Jeff Rodriguez / David Terrones went 2-1 to collect both Conq points. The Pirates swept the singles, picking up points from Juan Ferrar (3), Myles Seemann (3), Mason Van Valen (2) and Alex Sanders (1). Cabrillo's James Jeon, Ben Brady, and Alex Hibbs were all stymied by the orange juggernaut.

Curtis Cole / Austin White swept , Brent Collison / Logan Deats were 1-1, Cody DeLunas / Brandon Mann 2-1, and Grant Collison / Brent Beehler 1-0, for Santa Ynez. Pairs Jordan Daniels / Arjun Ayyar & Eric Wang / Ryan Anderson competed for Cabrillo.

Templeton 10, St Joseph 8
The Knights took singles 5-4 as Jake Eszes swept, but the Eagles received two sweeps in doubles to take the match. Jordan Hattar / Owen Sebo won 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 and the Rubin brothers (Ben & Sam) pulled out a tie-breaker to complete their sweep - 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-2.

For the Royals-
Sean Robinson had 15 assists, 5 digs, & 3 aces; Jerry Casey and Brian McAllen combined for 11 kills and had 3 digs each.
